About the Event
The ABCI 2010 Conference will contribute towards an in-depth analysis of present and future visions of ELT teaching within the Brazilian context and the Latin American scenario.
The plenary sessions, presentations, workshops and poster sessions will cover a number of issues which concern ELT teachers, teacher trainers and school administrators. Teachers and trainers might wish to consider some of the following issues: classroom demands which pose the greatest challenge for teachers; how the growth of technology will impact the ELT classroom, and the implications for teacher education and development in general.
During this conference we will focus on how technology can be applied both innovatively and in a sound pedagogical manner. We will look at how we can cater for the inclusion of different types of learners. Can we foster a sound learning experience in the classroom when the world on the whole is looking for a quick and easy learning option? What is the new role being ascribed to teachers who work within the competitive market of ELT language schools? How can we ensure the well-being of teachers in the language classroom?
We also hope to discuss what may happen to the communicative language classroom in a world in which global English, technological innovations and learner autonomy take on an increasingly important role. As educators, how can we prepare learners for the demands of the twenty-first century, and create a society in which people are responsible, capable of innovation, critical thinkers and take ownership of their actions?
Managers and DOS may wish to focus their attention on topics concerning the sustainability of the language school. A question we wish to pose is how sustainability can be ensured in the face of the turmoil of a new financial scenario, and the role of the ELT school in terms of the need to protect the environment and society in general.
The ABCI 2010 Conference hopes to address these and many more issues and we count on your participation to turn this into a landmark event within the field of ELT.
